This recording offers a guided development towards a state of deep relaxation and calm. It will provide a means of unlocking and freeing habitual muscular tension and pacifying the autonomic nervous system. After instructions as to the appropriate position and situation in which to listen to the tape are given, you will be encouraged to slow down your breathing mechanism and allow yourself the time to release any tightness or tension in the body. You will then be guided through a progressive relaxation procedure, until you drift peacefully into deeper and deeper relaxation. Finally you will be brought gradually back to a state of wakefulness, rested and refreshed.

Hugh Fraser, Read by Hugh FraserFrom AudioFile:
Written and read by a British actor frustrated with his own inability to relax, this presentation offers 20 minutes of relaxation instructions for daytime use and 31 minutes for nighttime use. Over gentle background music and the soft sound of ocean waves, the author gently instructs listeners to progressively relax various parts of the body and offers relaxation images that are soothing without being hypnotic. Fraser's instructions are paced well, and he is excellent at modulating his intensity and emotional tone. This is a resource that one could use to undo stress at home and work, or when one is on the road, especially when trapped in an unsettling hotel.
