From Booklist:
Ages 3-5. When Mr. Panda, the painter, runs out of paint, he goes to the art store to buy more. His new purchases go into a fetching rainbow-striped shopping bag, and his trip home turns into a feast of yellow, red, orange, green, blue, and purple, the very colors on the bag. The story is slight but sweet, with the bear arriving home and painting a wonderful picture using all his new paints. Rockwell's crisp, simple shapes, outlined in thick black lines, have much child appeal. To add interest and, perhaps, give children more colors to talk about, she has expanded her color scheme beyond that of Mr. Panda's to include white, brown, pink, and more. She's careful, however, to give each of the six spotlighted colors plenty of attention--each one is showcased in a brightly colored painting. Stephanie Zvirin
