About the Author:

J. KIRK IRWIN is a licensed architect with extensive experience in historic preservation. He has renovated dozens of buildings in Chicago and vicinity and has been active in grass roots and historic preservation initiatives. He is the former Chair of the Evanston Preservation Commission and co-author of several reports and documents pertaining to the establishment of landmark status and district designation for numerous properties in the City of Evanston, Illinois. Irwin holds a Master's Degree in Architectural History from the University of Virginia, where he studied European influences on the development of the American suburb.
