Bien vu, bien dit is an intermediate French program based on the film Le Chemin du retour. The book has 12 chapters which correspond to the 12 film episodes. Each episode is between 8-12 minutes long. The book and film have been carefully integrated so that as students progress through a chapter they move seamlessly from the book to the film and back to the book. In Bien vu, bien dit, students review vocabulary and structures typically taught in first-year programs as they expand their knowledge of vocabulary, learn more advanced grammar points, and further develop their reading and writing skills.
In the first viewing of the film, students are introduced to the new vocabulary and structures, and cultural topics found in the book. A second, optional viewing of the film, asks students to analyze the film from a cinematic point of view and introduces students to French film vocabulary.
