After his train is robbed at gunpoint, Remington Frost awakens from a blow to find the bandits gone - along with the woman he was shadowing for protection. No stranger to risk, Remington will do what it takes to bring Phoebe Apple to safety and her kidnappers to justice. But ransoming Phoebe is just the start of trouble...Phoebe is shocked to learn that her mysterious rescuer is none other than Remington Frost, the son of her sister's new husband. Home at Twin Star Ranch, she falls happily into western life-and cautiously in love with Remington. But danger hides close to home, and their romance illuminates a web of secrets and betrayal that may put the rancher and his intended bride past the point of rescue.

From the Back Cover:
'A funny, frantic, utterly refreshing brew' Sunday Telegraph

Detective Inspector Jack Frost, officially on duty, is nevertheless determined to sneak off to a colleague's leaving party. But first the corpse of a well-known local junkie is found blocking the drain of a Denton public lavatory - and then, when Frost attempts to join the revels later on, the nubile daughter of a wealthy businessman is reported missing.

Sleepy Denton has never known anything like the crime wave which now threatens to submerge it.A robbery occurs at the town's notorious strip joint, the Coconut Grove, the pampered son of a local MP is suspected of a hit-and-run offence and, to top it all, a multiple racist is on the loose.Frost is reeling under the strain, his paperwork is still in arrears and now, more than ever, his self-righteous colleagues would love to see him sacked. But the manic Frost manages to assure his superior that all is under control. Now he has only to convince himself...

'What impresses most is the extraordinarily vivid interplay between the police characters.Frost himself is splendidly drawn' The Times

Cat's Curiosities
(Pahrump, NV, U.S.A.)

Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. Jacket illustration by Terry Pastor (illustrator). 1st Edition. States "First published in Great Britain 1990." This is the actual 8vo Constable first hardcover printing, not some 12mo "BCA" reprint, though it's in dark blue cloth with a blindstamped "wave" pattern; may be a library re-bind. Ex-public lending library, with glued-in attachments of the Cumbria County Library to the blank FFE, though blessedly no edge stampings. Spine rolled about 3/8-inch (1 cm.). Most of the value here is presumably in the very-good-plus to near-fine dust jacket, showing a half-inch closed tear to bottom of front panel where it meets the front flap, but which is NOT price clipped -- original "L12.95 net" price showing. The second Inspector Frost novel. (PLEASE NOTE: By stating "Most of the value here lies in the dust jacket," we mean this jacket might considerably enhance the value of a better-condition, jacketless copy, but that -- absent the jacket -- this ex-library book -- while legible and complete as to text -- itself is not worth much.) David Jason played Detective Inspector William Edward "Jack" Frost in the Yorkshire (later ITV) television series, 1992-2010. Mystery / police procedural. Totals 356 pp. Reduced from $155.
