In 1986 a review group was set up to examine the measures that already exist to safeguard the New Forest and to identify what further action might be needed to maintain its unique character. This booklet contains the Forestry Commissioners' response to the recommendations of the review group, along with the conclusions of the relevant ministers. It covers a wide range of issues, including the status of the New Forest Heritage area, grazing, woodland management, nature conservation, camping, hunting and planning.
