Pinkwater's radio background serves him well in his delivery of a contemporary children's story. His narration convinces listeners that it's perfectly reasonable to have a 266-pound pet chicken. Pinkwater throws out jokes without missing a beat or losing the listener. The only disappointing thing about this audiobook is that it ends too soon.
