The quintessential comedy master returns with another tale that will have you laughing out loud and yearning for more. For Edmund Biffen Christopher, life is about to be very good--assuming he can stay out of trouble. If he can avoid being arrested until his thirtieth birthday, he will inherit his godfather's millions. The trouble is, Biff has a certain proclivity for getting into fisticuffs ... particularly with policemen. And he's already nearing thirty.Adding to his troubles is Lord Tilbury, who wants the fortune for himself. If Tilbury can make Biff fall foul of the law, his wish will come true. True to form, Wodehouse will see to it that everyone gets what's coming to them, one way or another.

About the Author:

Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse (1881-1975) was an English humorist who wrote novels, short stories, plays, poems, song lyrics, and numerous pieces of journalism. He was highly popular throughout a career that lasted more than seventy years, and his many writings continue to be widely read. He is best known for his novels and short stories of Bertie Wooster and his manservant Jeeves and for his settings of English upper-class society of the pre- and post-World War I era. He lived in several countries before settling in the United States after World War II. During the 1920s, he collaborated with Broadway legends like Cole Porter and George Gershwin on musicals and, in the 1930s, expanded his repertoire by writing for motion pictures. He was honored with a knighthood in 1975.

Review:
"Wodehouse's idyllic world can never stale. He will continue to release future generations from captivity that may be more irksome than our own. He has made a world for us to live in and delight in" Evelyn Waugh "The handsome bindings are only the cherry on top of what is already a cake without compare." Evening Standard

Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Black coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Plaintext dustwrapper with black and white coloured titles to the front panel and light blue and black coloured titles to the backstrip. When Edmund Biffen Pyke died and left his large estate to his harebrained godson Biffen, the rest of the family thought he had slipped a cog. Especially with the two provisos for inheritance, one:  Biffen had to be 30 years old, and two:  Biffen had to be free of the clutches of the law  and, as he had never been in a festive occasion where Biffen and the local law had not come to blows, this seemed unlikely. Enter Lord Tilbury, Edmund's brother, incredibly rich himself, but willing to become richer, and to this end hires one Percy Pilbeam to lead Biffy down the path of temptation. Standing in his way? Biffy's sister Kay, who hires Jerry Shoesmith to keep her brother out of trouble. A little rubbing of the book corners and backstrip edges. A very slight cock of the spine. Age toning of the textblock edges and pages. Foxing of the text block edges and to some of the pages. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with some yellowing of the rear panel.
