From School Library Journal:
Grade 7 - 10 What appears on the surface to be a somewhat sensationalistic YA problem novel is, however, a fine and sensitive treatment of a problem that many adolescents face. When 15-year-old Weeble's Uncle Nicky comes to stay with her and her mother while he finds a new job with a band, Weeble is quite taken with the handsome, charming 25 year old. Before long, encouraged by his attentions to her, Weeble finds herself confused in her attraction to Nicky, but she is talked out of her concerns by smooth-talking Nicky, whose attentions soon become physical. Confused and yet infatuated, Weeble finds herself in bed with Uncle Nicky; he is angered when she finally insists that he stop short of making love to her. A kind teacher urges Weeble to tell her mother, and she is finally able to convince her disbelieving mother that her story is true. When Nicky is confronted with it, he lies brazenly enough to shock Mrs. Miller into ordering him to leave. Weeble's burgeoning sexuality, coupled with her youthful trust in Nicky, almost leads to disaster, but it is the love and wisdom of her mother and the gentle understanding of the teacher that saves her. This is a well-written novel, engrossing, and with a believable main character. Audrey B. Eaglen, Cuyahoga County Public Library, Cleveland
