"This is my autobiography, the exciting story of how I, Ronald Corbett the son of an Edinburgh baker, became convinced that I had to seek m y fortune and become an actor, of how I pursued that goal, found fame on television as one of The Two Ronnies, and managed to meet a fabulou s cast of extraordinary people along the way. First I'll take you back to my schooldays and reveal the technique I developed for estimating the height of a girl before daring to ask her to dance. Then, for the first time, I'll fearlessly tell of my arrival in London and of my jo b of night club barman. I'll explain how I first met David Forst, John Cleese and Michael Palin, and shamelessly reveal how I once played othello to Danny La Rue's Desdemona, having just had dinner with Laurence Oliver. And then there was The Two Ronnies, an incredibly success ful television show with a man in glasses who, rather spookily, had the same first name as me. You can find out about how we tried to avoid becoming a double act, and why it was always goodnight from me and go odnight from him, but never ever goodnight from us. I'll also tell you about the time I was suddenly struck down by a mysterious illness which destroyed my sense of balance and prevented me from going on stage for several years. Altogether I must admit, it is a truly dramatic story. I only hope my

From the Inside Flap:
I begin, I ought to say that even though I was abandoned as a baby on a mountainside and brought up by a she-wolf, before becoming a deckhand, jumping ship in Macau and getting stabbed in the waterfront area (which can be very painful) in a fight over the last green Fruit Pastille, I am not going to tell you that story. There is no mention of my time as a lumberjack, and my career as a double-agent remains a closed book. Anyway, this is the much more exciting story of how I, Ronald Balfour Corbett, the son of a baker in Edinburgh, became convinced that I had to become an actor. It is the story of how I pursued that goal and eventually achieved it, along the way finding fame as one of the Two Ronnies, and encountering an extraordinary cast of characters." - Ronnie Corbett
About the Author:
Ronnie Corbett is a comedian, actor, writer, and broadcaster who began his career in show business in the early 1950s. Soon he found himself offered roles in sitcoms, films, and family shows. His big break came when he joined The Frost Report alongside David Frost and John Cleese. It was here he met Ronnie Barker, and in 1971, The Two Ronnies were launched, becoming a national institution until they called it a day in the mid-1980s. Becoming something of a national treasure, Ronnie continued working in the TV industry into his 80s. He passed away in 2016.
