In this second volume of a projected trilogy, Rosenthal continues the story begun in Loop's Progress (Weidenfeld & Nicholson, 1986). Narrator Jarvis Loop has now teamed up with Karl Marxman to become a pirate on Lake Erie. Among the other unlikely characters are Stinky Jinx, an effeminate star athlete who convinces the whole football team to wear rose and baby blue uniforms with matching scarfs, and Red Loop, whose bowling ball can demolish a bomb shelter.
