Still reeling from the murder of the woman he loved, Chicago freelance writer Emerson Ward accepts a job as a guest lecturer for a semester at his alma mater, a small college in upstate New York. So when one of his students, Bob Marter, comes to him with vague references to something evil happening on the sleepy, rural campus, Emerson ignores his pleas for help. But Bob turns up dead, an apparent suicide, and Emerson is forced to listen to his intuition, which is telling him that he should have paid more attention to Bob’s concerns. Now he has to find out on his own what Bob knew that may have gotten him killed. Just when Emerson thinks he has it all figured out, another student dies, this time the victim of an apparent accident, and Emerson knows it can’t be coincidence. The deeper he digs for answers, the more he realizes he’s in over his head, and someone has raised the stakes dramatically. It isn’t about murder anymore, it’s about something far bigger and so wide-reaching that if Emerson doesn’t stop it he’s not the only one who will lose his life. Michael Sherer is the Thriller Award-nominated author of 'Night Blind'.

About the Author:
Michael W. Sherer is the Thriller Award-nominated, best-selling author of Night Blind, the first in the Seattle-based Blake Sanders thriller series, which was also named a best book of 2012 by The Examiner’s “Miami Books.” Mike has published six novels in the award-winning Emerson Ward mystery series and a stand-alone suspense novel, Island Life, which was a USA Book News “Best Books” award-winner in 2008. A member and past regional vice president of Mystery Writers of America, Mike is also a member of the International Thriller Writers and the Authors Guild. He’s served as a judge for both MWA’s Edgar and ITW’s Thriller Awards. Mike first dreamed of becoming a bestselling novelist after taking a creative writing course in college from author John Nichols. He wrote his first book (an admittedly awful science fiction novel) in his senior year, but it was his third book that was finally published a decade and a half later. “Writing books,” he says, “is actually the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life, but also the most rewarding.” He hopes that his latest book might be the bestseller he’s hoped for -- tell your friends if you like it. Mike is working on the fourth Blake Sanders thriller as well as a YA thriller. Mike grew up on a farm in northern Illinois, and after graduating from college he lived in Chicago for 20 years. He and his family now reside in the Seattle area.
Review:
"Equally adept at describing physical action and cerebral action, there are moments of true grace in Sherer's writing." -- The Drood Review
