About the Author:

Winona LaDuke is an internationally acclaimed Native American and environmental activist who founded the White Earth Recovery Project and the Indigenous Women's Network. Winona was selected by Ms. magazine as one of its "Women of the Year" for 1997, and by Time magazine as one of its "50 For The Future:" America's most promising leaders under 40. She was also Ralph Nader's vice-presidential candidate on the Green Party ticket in the 1996 presidential election. An Anishinaabe, she lives with her two children on the White Earth Reservation in Minnesota.
