Excerpt: .Her M. on behalf of Her Majesty, heretofore has been, or hereafter jest/a mercy shall be, pleased to extend mercy to any offender convicted of J86? cx any crime punishable with death, upon any condition whatso-convicted crimever, whether of imprisonment for life or otherwise, and whe-inttl on oondither any particular place of confinement be specified in the Jj,0, b/notined document signifying the extension of such mercy or not; and to the Court, such extension of mercy shall be duly signified to the Court 0 before which such offender hath been or shall be convicted, or any other Court with the like authority, or to any Judge of the Supreme Court, such Court or Judge shall allow to such offender the benefit of a conditional pardon, and make an order immediately to carry out the condition imposed; and such allowance and order shall be considered as an allowance and order made by the Court before which the offender was convicted, and shall be entered on the records of the same Court by the proper officer thereof; and shall, when made by a Judge, be as effectual, to all intents and purposes, and have the same consequences, as if such allowance and order had been made by the Court during the continuance thereof; and every such order shall subject the offender to be confined in such place or places as may be named in the document extending mercy, subject to be changed, from time to time, as to the place and mode of confinement and otherwise, by order of the Lieutenant Governor in Council, as to the Lieutenant Governor in Council shall seem meet and proper; and in no case shall the previous consent of any offender to a conditional pardon be deemed necessary or be required. Excerpt: .thousand pounds sterling, or one hundred and fifty thousand pounds, of lawful money of this Island, (including any amounts which may be raised in Great Britain or elsewhere out of this Island, under the subsequent provisions of this Act), as any person or persons, bodies politic or corporate, 6hall agree to advance on the credit of this Island; and such bonds or debentures shall be prepared and made out in such method and form as the said Colonial Treasurer shall think most safe and convenient, and be signed by him, by the Colonial Secretary, and also by the Lieutenant Governor of this Island, and shall be made payable at ten years from the date of issuing the same, bearing interest at a rate not exceeding six pounds per centum, per annum, payable yearly or half yearly, as may be arranged and specified. issue debentures, from time to time, as required. Debentures to be payable in 10 years at rate of interest not exceeding six per cent per annum. III. Such person or persons as shall be from time to time Agents to be appointed, in that behalf, by the Lieutenant Governor of this appointed to Island, with the advice and consent of Her Majesty s Execu-Greatritive Council, shall be, and he or they are hereby declared to tain, o. be, agent or agents in Great Britain and Ireland, or elsewhere, out of this Island, under this Act, for the purpose of raising and managing the moneys hereinafter proposed to be raised out of this Island. IV. The agent or agents, for the time being, under this Act shall have full power and authority to borrow and raise in Great Britain and Ireland, or elsewhere out of this Island, by bond, debenture or otherwise, such sum or sums, not exceeding in the whole the sum of one hundred thousand pounds sterling, as he or.
