Autograph letter (7 1/4 x 8 inch) signed undated (late 1820s/early 1830s?). Brief letter reads "Dear Sir I send you a poor speech of mine, with a few copies, which at your service, if of any value W.W. Ellsworth". Both the back and sides have been used by a merchant in Waterford, Conn. to keep store records (1824-31). William W. Ellsworth (1791-1868) was governor of Connecticut (1838-42) and sat on the state Supreme Court (1847-61). Evidence of folding and slight soiling. Bookseller Inventory # 8937
