Unusual copy used as scrapbook by its only owner, in which she collected the signatures of ballet luminaries beside their caricatures, And elsewhere, if they had not been pictured. Signed by Danilova, Markova, Lichin, Walter Terry and others. She also pasted in photographs and clippings. Material related to the illustrator laid in. Spine missing; boards heavily worn, rubbed, and browned at edges. Beautiful bookplate to middle of front pastedown; bookseller's label to bottom of front pastedown. Gift inscription from mother to ffep. Items pasted or taped: between images 40 and 41; to reverse of image 42 (tape damage to facing page); to pages with images 41 and 42; to reverse of image 56. There had been something glued on 46 and 47 and then torn off. Page labelled 'Ballet Makers' is missing square chunks from the top and the bottom corner. Hinges tender. Inquiries welcome. Inscribed by the author on FFE to prior owner whose bookplate appears as well. A second inscription and signature remains unidentified. It is not written in English. Stapled to verso of FFE are two newspaper articles containing his obituary. Newsprint stains appear on this page as well as the title page. Contents are otherwise clean. Both the volume and DJ have edge and corner wear. Binding remains tight. Overall this is an interesting archive of the artist whose caricatures hung in Sardi's famous New York restaurant.
