Description:

16 p., paper, horizontal quarto (8 3/4" x 12"). This bicycle catalog has a great illustration on the cover, with four young men bicycling along a parkway with spectators (men wearing suits and hats and one of them with a Speed Graphic or similar camera, a few boys also wearing caps, one woman!) and a cheerleader (man without hat, with bullhorn and a banner bearing the words "Hussar Wins"), printed in black and red. Hussar, of course, is one of the company's lines of bicycles, apparently not the bike ridden by the trailing riders. Bikes are offered for men, women, boys, and girls, and range in price from $27.95 (plus shipping, of course, for instance $5.05 to Ashland, OR, $.40 to Joliet, IL) for the top line, down to $11.95 for the least expensive. The catalog also lists many bicycle parts and accessories, auto tires, saddlebags, etc. The catalog includes a letter dated Jan. 2, 1915, from First National Bank of Chicago testifying to the good standing of the Smyth company, which it says has been in business for 49 years. There are also letters from happy customers, one from Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with a photo. The company offers a ten-day approval period and a warranty. There are a few very light stains on the cover; the interior is fine; the catalog has a vertical crease down the middle. Bookseller Inventory # 120912KH
