A German translation of a late 16th - early 17th century Chinese drama, in a rather elegant printing. The cover is cream board with reddish gold speckles, the spine and corners of a thicker mottled brown cloth. Printed on soft creamy paper, primarily in black with occasional red type. Minor wear to exterior, some edge wear and a few small stains on bottom edge; binding is sturdy, the leading edges somewhat splayed out. The just barely compete dust jacket, originally blue, has faded to a respectable beige, front and spine darkened. Several pieces of tape mar the spine and deep chips affect the edges and spine extremities, some measuring nearly an inch. The jacket is embellished with a line drawing of a Chinese garden scene, and similar illustrations appear within the text as well. Interior unflawed, clean and unmarked. 138 pages, 8" x 10.5". [A].
