Volume 9 in the Handbooks of Practical Gardening series. Edwin Beckett was head-gardener for Lord Aldenham at Aldenham House in Hertfordshire. Lord Aldenham's brother, Hon. Vicary Gibbs, was a Member of Parliament and an avid plant collector. Together they won many gardening prizes.
