This FIRST EDITION is a SPECIAL EDITION in NEAR FINE condition with scarce dustjacket. Copyright page has at top "This Special Edition of Currier & Ives is set in 12 pt. Caslon monotype with hand-drawn decorative initials. The design and typography is by A.P. Tedesco" Book is in NEAR FINE condition with light green/grey textured cloth binding with color pastedown surrounded in intricate leaf pattern stamped in grey with black text block with gilt lettering on top half of book's spine. Pastedown has top 1/2 with black background and white lettering in shadowing and script over 4" x 5.5" CURRIER & IVES print of "The Road-Winter" .a color illustration of two passengers in horse-drawn carriage in a snowy winter landscape. Book's spine tips and corners are gently bumped and worn with binding and insides tight, bright, clean and unmarked. NO previous owner's or library markings, NO foxing and NOT a book club edition or remainder. Book is profusely illustrated with 192 black & white and color plates. All plate prints are taken from the collection of HARRY T. PETERS, the foremost collector of Currier & Ives worldwide. DW is covered by Brodart with price point of $5.00 intact in VERY GOOD+ condition. Scarce DW has bold black lettering above and below same color print in oval setting on complete front cover. DW's spine tips and corners are bumped and worn with small chips (under 1/4" to corners and under 1/4" across both tips) and there is edge wear and a few minor soiled spots to boards.
