J.B. Lippincott Company, PA. This regimental history covers the unit during its service from Oct 7, 1861 to July 12, 1865. The 52nd Pennsylvania fought in Virginia, Carolinas and with Sherman's Army. This regimental contains some excellent diary entries that throw personal light on the Eastern campaigns. After the Peninsula Campaign the unit was assinged to Carolina and participated in the capture of Fort Wagner, made famous in the movie ‘Glory’. In July 1964 many of the men of the 52nd Pennsylvania were captured along with the regimental commander during an attack on Charleston. After General Sherman took Charleston, the unit as assigned to his army for the Carolina Campaign. The book has a full unit roster. The copy was presented to the Bradford County Historical Society on May 9, 1913. There is a stamp and an embossed indentification on th title page and a sticker on the inside front cover. The historical society’s call letters are crossed out on the spine. Other than the ex-library markings the book is a very good copy of the first edition. No dust jacket. 266 pages.
