Description:

Original handwritten manuscript in ink, signed by Morley. 8 pages. Circa 1917. Also signed "Andrew McGill" by Morley (McGill was a pseudonym). This humorous essay first appeared in the New York Evening Post in 1917. A longer version of the essay under the title "Frank Confessions of a Publisher's Reader" appeared in Morley's Shandygoff in 1918. Morley (1890-1957) was an American journalist, novelist, essayist and poet. He also produced stage productions for a few years as well as gave college lectures. This manuscript comes in a custom made blue slipcase with gilt lettering on the spine. The first and last page have a small rust spot in the upper corner where a paper clip use to be, however pages are clean and complete. Bookseller Inventory # 017860
