Circa 1865. Hand-colored stone lithograph, 20 x 14 inches with 2 1/2 inch green mat. Some soiling along mat line. Title "Querquedula Crecca" along bottom. Also "J. Gould and H. C. Richter del et lith." and "Walter, Imp." John Gould (1804-1881) was an English ornithologist and bird artist, who often worked with other animal illustrators such as Henry Constantine Richter (1821-1902). This print came from his "Birds of Great Britain", which was issued between 1863-1873. It shows a detailed male Common Teal in the foreground, with a female and 9 ducklings swimming in a pond with reeds. Seller Inventory # 016422
