32pp. First edition. Original printed wraps. Fine copy. Entering Confederate service in spring 1863 at age 17, Gallaher was briefly on the staff of John D. Imboden, but, anxious for battle action, joined the First Virginia Cavalry as a private. He fought at The Wilderness, and, thereafter, became an aide to Gen. Thomas Rosser, in Early's Shenandoah Valley Campaign. This is a nice item by an articulate soldier skilled at mixing battle accounts with personal anecdote. DORNBUSCH II, 1187. Not in NEVINS.
