Inscribed By Author This FIRST EDITION is a SECOND PRINTING, INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR in VERY GOOD - condition. Book's copyright page states "Published October, 1914" on line over "Reprinted November, 1914" with no other dates or subsequent printings notating Second Printing. Author has inscribed in pencil on half title page "For my good friend, __?__ Rittenberg, (signed) F. Hopkinson Smith, Jan 1915". Book is in VERY GOOD - condition with 3/4 light green paper boards with bold dark green lettering and green wreath on front board over cream cloth binding. Book's spine tips and corners are bumped and worn with fraying across both tips and corners worn down to curved and worn cardboard on front corners and back cover's top corner. Lettering and decorations on front board are very dark and legible with few tiny (under 1/8") chips of ink to letters of title only. Book's spine is heavily sunned with what looks like gilt lettering legible but faded. Boards and spine are rubbed and soiled in spots with moderate edge wear around. Both hinges are starting otherwise book is Very Good with binding and insides tight, bright, clean and unmarked. NO previous owner's or library markings, NO FOXING and NOT a book club edition or remainder. Book is illustrated with 22 full page charcoal drawings in light green & black by author, F.HOPKINSON SMITH, plus 2 facsimile letters, a document and 2 photographs (including one of Dickens taken in Philadelphia that was first published in this book) all in NEAR FINE condition on glossy pages. IN DICKENS'S LONDON, copyright 1914, hardcover, 7.5" x 10.5", 127 pp, with top of text block dyed still bright gilt and outside and bottom edges uncut. Bookseller Inventory # 002959
