A wonderful example of this large (9" by 12") ode to various breeds of dog with poetic descriptions by Albert Payson Terhune (1872-1942, author of "Lad: A Dog" which was adapted into film by Warner Brothers in 1962) and 12 full-page enduring and endearing illustrations by Diana Thorne (1894-1963), one of the great dog illustrators of her generation.
