Library binding; full black leatherette, gilt-stamped lettering on spine; 8vo (210x121mm); pp. vii, , 186,  (6-line errata), plus frontispiece author portrait and 7 small woodcut illustrations in text, attributed to Bewick by Sabin (tho one is signed "R. Austin," who was a pupil of Bewick). Presentation copy, inscribed by the author along top margin of title-p., "Mr Lee -- with the authors best respects." Corners bumped, otherwise binding is fine. Text block a bit toned, and faintly foxed; two of the woodcuts have very small closed tears, as though pierced by a pencil. A beautifully printed piece of Americana. Uncommon.
