Max Adeler was the pseudonym of Charles Heber Clark (1841-1915), a popular American novelist and humorist in his time. This a collection of humorous short stories. Mr. Clark had a long running feud with Mark Twain, each accusing the other of plagiarism. Mr. Clark claimed that Mr. Twain plagiarized the short story "Fortunate Island" in his "Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court". Bookseller Inventory # 016285
