SCARCE DUSTJACKET with this collectible book. Book is VERY GOOD + with brown cloth binding with black small illustration of mask with hair in bottom right corner of front board and gilt and black lettering and black patterns on spine. Book's spine tips and corners are gently bumped with light sunning to top and bottom edges of boards. Book's binding and insides are tight, bright and clean with no foxing. Previous owner's initials in ink in tiny lettering in top right corner of right FEP otherwise no other previous owner's or library markings. DW is covered by plastic in VERY GOOD condition with front cover complete with bold brown lettering and blue, green and brown patterns and sunned spine with same lettering and patterns. DW has scotch tape on the inside to repair 4" diagonal tear on bottom of spine and the full hinge from front cover to spine is taped nicely from backside. DW also has spine tips and corners bumped and chipped (under 1/4") and 4 small chips to top edge of cover on front and back (all under 1/4") Book is illustrated by author with 8 glossy black and white plates (many two pages) and numerous other text illustrations throughout. Mytinger shares account of her expedition to the Solomon Islands to paint the included portraits of the native people. Her adventures and misadventures are shared and made even more vivid by her sketches. Front endpapers are illustrated with map of the Coral Sea. Hardcover, 6" x 8.5", 416pp with book review laid in.
