Description:

1st Printing. Unpaginated. Published in 1969. The artist/photographer's breakthrough debut book. Now considered an erotic photography classic. The First Edition. Precedes and should not be confused with all other subsequent editions. Published in a small and limited first print run as a softcover original only. There is no ISBN. The First Edition is now rare. An austerely elegant production by Skrebneski: Pocket-size book format. Pictorial softcovers with white titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Victor Skrebneski. There is no text. Printed on pristine-white archival stock paper in the United States to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Skrebneski's "The Human Form". A series of male, female, and group nude studies that, according to the photography collector/scholar Alessandro Bertoletti ("Books of Nudes"), were well ahead of their time in the way they explored various symmetries and exotic perspectives while exuding a natural sensuality and erotic appeal. Some of the most renowned nude portraits ever taken, the images in this gem of a book have influenced a whole generation of photographers, especially in their use of dramatic lighting, the sculptural (but never cold) approach to the nude, and visual experimentation. At his very best, Skrebneski is ranked with Richard Avedon and Irving Penn as a fashion, lifestyle, and portrait photographer. As a male and female nude photographer, he is firmly grounded in the great tradition of Horst and George Platt Lynes. The late great fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy paid Skrebneski the ultimate tribute anyone could hope for when he called the latter "an artist, not just a photographer". An absolute "must-have" title for Skrebneski collectors. This title is an erotic photography classic. This is one of very few copies of the First Edition/First Printing still available online and despite its imperfection (wear and creasing on softcover edges, corners, and spine) is still in fine condition: Every internal page is clean, crisp, and bright, immaculately so. It is priced accordingly. A rare copy thus. Lavishly illustrated with photographic plates. One of the greatest artist/photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER SKREBNESKI TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). Bookseller Inventory # 14309
