Synopsis: The Talmud meets Mad Magazine meets the Simpsons in Terry Abrahamson's hilarious retelling of the story of history's first oil crisis. On the first night of the Festival of Lights, the Moskowitz family of Skokie, Illinois (the only state that rhymes with Oy!) is visited by Hannukah's first super-prophet, a six foot hippie cat in a tie-dyed t-shirt and matching "Meowmulkah." Hannukatz then faces off with the spoiled Moskowitz kids, conjuring pop icons ranging from Stephen Spielberg to Chuck Berry in an effort to teach Josh and Emily the true meaning of Hannukah. This book is also the inspiration for Abrahamson's hit show Hannukatz the Musical featuring the songs "Do the Chhhh," "No Jews Allowed," and "Hannukah is Not the Jewish Christmas."
About the Author: Chicago native Terry Abrahamson combines his childhood memories of years of Hebrew school lessons with the most unforgettable moments from the dozens of wacky Bar Mitzvah videos he's created to see Judaism with a totally original eye. A Grammy-winning songwriter, Terry's other faith-based projects include "The Shikse's Cookbook: 30 Traditional Jewish Recipes Set in Verse Form to Be Sung to the Tune of Your Favorite Christmas Carols." His music have been recorded by Muddy Waters, George Thorogood, Joan Jett, Clarence Clemons and the Chambers Brothers. His book "In the Belly of the Blues," a photographic memoir of his years with the Blues greats, is part of the permanent collection of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He has also authored six stage plays and various film and tv projects.
