About Henry Pordes Books Ltd
Henry Pordes has been a famous name in the book trade for more than fifty years. As a bookseller, publisher of learned periodicals, academic titles, Jewish books, as well as a wholesaler of remainders, the name Henry Pordes is renowned throughout the bookselling world.
In 1983 Henry Pordes Books in the Charing Cross Road was opened as a family business and despite the death of Henry in 1998 the business continues much as before, now being run by his son-in-law Gino Della-Ragione and his daughter Nicole very much in the same tradition.
The staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and carry the whereabouts of most of the book stock in their heads! It is still an old-fashioned shop with old-fashioned service but with modern methods.
