About this Item
253 pages. Previous owner's inscription on inside cover. Both text and dust jacket are very clean.Really good genealogy on the John Friend Sr. (1732-1808) family. He is credited with settling Friendsville, Maryland. Great stories of how that was achieved. During a dangerous time to settle these new areas, he was able to cross Indian lines. This book suggests that his own possible Indian heritage and that of his wife's possible Indian heritage, gave him knowledge and acceptance. Olsen gives references & sources for where the family came from before that and much afterward. If you descend through these lines this is a good place to start. This is an incredible research with many threads of truth. But, also, perhaps strings that have been inflated by being told and retold. Whatever the case, it is rich in family stories, rare in any family research that reaches as far as this one. A very nice rare book. Seller Inventory # 4034
