In a dark brown, half leather binding, and marbled paper boards with leather corners. Five raised bands to the spine with gilt titlling and author lettering, and gilt decoration to each compartment. Blue-green and gilt marbled page edges and endpapers. NO Inscriptions or Marks. Contains (xx) + 2 + 450 printed pages of text, with a full page b/w portrait frontispiece and clean loose tissue guard, and full page and text b/w illustrations throughout. Some light rubbing/marks to the leather, but corners crisp and, apart from one inner tear to the contents page, and a few very light foxing spots to the plain endpapers, overall this is an EXCELLENT Very Clean, Tight and Bright copy. A Lovely 'Prize-type' Binding - but No labels or inscriptions. At the time of listing I have an identical binding for another Smiles book = ' A Boys Voyage Round the World.' - See Images, or request further details/images. ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall.
