Book Description Detroit Library Commission 1928-1931, 1928. Hardcover. Book Condition: Good +. 1000 copies printed. Burton Historical Records. 2 vols.: 657; 829 p. 25 cm. 13 b&w illustrations. Half leather with tan cloth. Moderate wear, especially to bottom rear corner of vol. II. White mark on front of second volume. A little soiling to text block edge. John Askin sailed to North America in 1758 and at some point in the mid-1760s arrived in Michilimackinac (Mackinaw City, MI). There he ran a trading post, was commissary for the garrison, and farmed. Despite having settled in what became in the U.S., his family maintained their British allegiance. During the War of 1812 Askin had four sons, two sons-in-law, and ten grandchildren fighting for the British and only one son-in-law for the Americans. Bookseller Inventory # 109570
