Publisher's cloth binding with illustration of a dog on front. Minor rubbing. Dimensions 9 1/2 x 12 inches. 287 pages, numerous illustrations. From title page, "Selections by Franklin J. Meine and John Merryweather with Introduction by Vincent Starrett". From tail-piece, ".The Lakeside Press of Chicago has printed for them 1000 copies of this book." John Tinney McCutcheon (1870-1949) was a prominent newspaper political cartoonist and reporter, known as the "Dean of American Cartoonists". He drew for two Chicago newspapers, first the Chicago Morning News and then the Chicago Tribune. He won the Pulitzer Prize for Cartooning in 1932.
