Limited edition of 1,900 copies. [6], 39 pages; wood engravings; brown cloth binding with dust jacket. Sarah Kemble Knight (1666-1727) was a teacher and businesswoman born in Boston, Mass. Since the original manuscript diary has disappeared the account is based on the 1825 edition with the addition of a six page introduction. The journey was undertaken in 1704-05 from Boston by horse to New Haven and on to New York City. The diary is a frank and insightful account of travel in New England. Fine clean copy.
