Reade, Charles. LOVE ME LITTLE, LOVE ME LONG. London: Trubner, 1859. In Two Volumes. First Edition in original publisher's bead-grain-blue cloth. A Very Good to Near Fine set, Volume 1 is exceptional for 1850s cloth, bright and virtually unrubbed. Volume 2 is nearly as nice, with a slightly darker spine and a little more abrasion and spotting to the covers. While Reade (1814-1884), a skillful writer with a Dickensian reformer's zeal, is little remembered and probably less read these days, he is still an important author for the Victorian collector's library and few of his novels turn up in original cloth these days, especially in such nice condition. He was particularly known for his rapid, exciting narrative, lively dialogue and "vivid, often horrific" description. (Oxford DNB). Sadleir 2010. Wolff 5710. Bookseller Inventory # 001556
