This two volume set had been rebound with dark red cloth boards over red leather spine and corners. Five raised bands and gilt lettering and decorations appear on the spines. Covers and extremities are slightly rubbed, spines are a bit darkened. Original backstrips and navy blue cloth covers are tipped in at front and back, respectively. The backstrip for volume 1 is chipped. Beautiful red-hued marbled endpp. Former owner's name appears very small and neat on the back of each frontispiece. 16 illustrations in each volume, all of which are protected by a tissue guard. Illustrations are moderately foxed, some random foxing and darkening in text, moreso on pages opposing illustrations. Two pages of ads at rear. Collated complete. Bindings are sound and tight.
