Single Printed sheet with manuscript descriptions of price, terms, credit, closing, etc. With 15-character Chinese notation on rear. Written out less than 10 years after Strauss and his partner Davis patented their Blue Jeans design, this bill, with its goods, made its way to the Sun Sun Woo Co, in Coulterville, CA, an early gold mining town with large Chinese, Mexican, and White American settlements. The bill is signed "Levi Strauss & Co. /A Hirschfeld; " Albert Hirschfeld is listed as the secretary of the Levi Strauss Company in the 1912 San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Journal; he is listed as the 1st Vice President of the company in 1931. A recent Sierra Nevada tourism guide notes, that in the ghost town of Coulterville, "the Wells Fargo building and the Chinese grocery are the only additional buildings that remain standing today from the 1850s. The former Chinese grocery Sun Sun Woo Company, owned by Sun Woo, is located at the far end of town where the Chinese immigrants lived. Today the store is a gift shop.
