Notebook kept by Al Thompson, Chief Officer of the "M.S. New Orleans. Data on Vessel. on Indian Run, etc." 9 1/2 x 11 1/4" three ring binder containing 84 typewritten and hand written pages with 17 additional manuscript or printed pages inserted at rear. The ship was built in New Orleans in 1920 for the U.S.S.B. Emergency Fleet Corporation and converted to a motorship in 1929. Overall length was 411'9", with crew of 40. Includes detailed descriptions of the ship and how it works, dates of various inspections, rules and regulations, types of reports required at various ports such as the Suez Canal, Ceylon, 9 cities in India, instructions for navigating, terms and definitions, 15 pages of readings taken during passages made on the English Channel and to Germany in 1933 aboard the S.S. President Harding, etc. Covers 1929-1940. Good, shows some use, spine reinforced with paper tape. Seller Inventory # 6358
