Kazimir Malevich was one of the great pioneers of 20th-century abstract art. A major figure in the Russian avant-garde, he was a founder of Suprematism, which became the basis for most later trends in abstract painting. This illustrated book surveys Malevich's life and art from his early years to his triumphant Suprematist period, including his abandonment of painting altogether in 1918 in favor of teaching and designing architecture and objects for daily use.
