Spine is worn and torn at foot and header and along hinges. Some foxing present on back end-paper and free end-paper. Gold circular sticker with "591" written in black ink is present on spine. Bumped and worn corners on front and back covers. 425 pages. Vol. II, which contains Parts III and IV and is titled "Of the Imaginative and Theoretic Faculties" is in good condition, with some wear and discoloration present on covers. Bumped and worn spine foot, header, and hinges, as well as bumped corners on both covers. Gold circular sticker with "592" written in black ink present on spine. 264 pages. Vol. III, which contains Part IV and is titled "Of Many Things" is in good condition with some wear and discoloration present on covers. Contains numerous black and white illustration plates throughout. All volumes have discolored front and back end-papers and free end-papers due to age, and all have a white "Chelsea Arts Club" label dated 1907 on front end-papers. And all have some tearing and wear between gutters of front and back end-papers and free end-papers. All title pages are dated 1888. This is a relatively early edition of the works of John Ruskin, the leading English art critic of the Victorian era who was also an art patron, watercolourist, a prominent social thinker and philanthropist. From this complete edition, Volume VI (which is the index edition) is missing. Overall, though there is some wear present on each volume, these copies are in good condition, especially considering age. Bindings good and tight. Pages clean and square. Each book is 12 inches (length) by 8 3/4 inches (width). Since this is an oversized (and overweight) collection, extra shipping is required for international and priority mail.
