Paperback. Scarce memorabilia from the legendary Newport Folk Festival. The annual festival began in 1959 and ended in 1970. It was revived in 1985 and is still thriving. The 1968 festival marked the first appearances of Janis Joplin, Tim Buckley, and Janis Ian. (Janis Joplin died in 1970 at the age of 27. Tim Buckley died in 1975 at the age of 28). Other performers included Joan Baez, Theodore Bikel, Elizabeth Cotton, B.B. King, Pete Seeger. and Ralph Stanley. The program provided biographies of the performers and the members of the board of directors, along with articles about Elizabeth Cotton, Woodie Guthrie, and the program line-up. Very good in soft cover with stapled spine. Black front cover with festival logo in brown circle. Some chips and bumps, and crease to upper right hand of front cover. Interior pages are clean.
