Two volumes, both first printings, cloth in dust jacket, the German edition and the English translation of Marcuse's book examining Madame Bovary, Lady Chatterly's Lover, and Tropic of Cancer, among other works. The chapter on HM, titled "The Most Obscene Writer in World Literature" (a line borrowed from Sir Herbert Read) takes a close look at the courts of California in the case involving Tropic of Cancer.
