The World's Columbian Exhibition was a World's Fair held in Chicago, Illinois, in 1893 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in the New World. This is a view of a corner of the Columbia Fountain, showing a sculpture by Frederick MacMonnies (1863-1937) of "seahorses", with horse heads and torsos and fish tails, being reined in by riders. This is only a portion of a much larger statue that was a centerpiece of the fair. The Manufacturers and Liberal Arts Building is in the background. Bookseller Inventory # 015654
