8.25 by 5.75 inches. Possibly titled 'Black Magic,' a study of a man standing in front of a horse, holding its reins. With a small detail of the horse's hoof. Removed from a sketchbook. Attributed to Samuel Henry Alken by Spink, the London dealers, with their label. Alken was one of a large family of well-known sporting artists in England. Sketch mounted to board. A few spots of foxing. Matted and framed in a simple 15 by 13.5 inch gilt frame. Bookseller Inventory # 25361
