Description:

1st Printing. Signed. 16 pages. Published in 2014. Artist Book. The 86th title in the now-legendary "One Picture Book" Series by Nazraeli Press, one of the most superb ongoing projects of contemporary art photography. Limited Edition of 500 numbered and signed copies. Accompanied by one tipped-in, original print by the artist/photographer (hence the Series' name). An elegant production by Chris Pichler: Small-size volume format. Titles on the cover and spine, as issued. Photographs by Doug Rickard. Printed on pristine-white, archival stock paper to the highest standards. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Doug Rickard's "All Eyes On Me". His very first contribution to the One Picture Book Series, a suite of Polaroid photographs of contemporary American street life. His use of the Polaroid camera is arresting precisely because the images have a visceral presence and are un-mediated, unlike Rickard's ground-breaking and celebrated digital work thus far. Still, what has been written about him as a street photographer remains true about "All Eyes On Me": "He focusses on places in the United States where unemployment is high and educational opportunities are few. On a virtual road trip, Rickard locates these sites remotely using the Street View feature of the website Google Maps, which has mapped and photographed every street in the country. Scrutinizing the Google Maps pictures, he composes images on his computer screen, which he then photographs using a digital camera. The resulting pictures comment on poverty and racial inequality in the United States, the bounty of images on the web, and issues of personal privacy" (The Museum of Modern Art/MOMA). These Polaroids are intimate street photographs, and the title alludes to the hip-hop performing artist Tupac Shakur's "All Eyez On Me". An absolute "must-have" title for Doug Rickard collectors. This copy is one of the Limited Edition, indicated as such in pencil on the Back Limitation Page. It comes with an original print that is very boldly and beautifully signed in pencil on verso by Doug Rickard. This title is now collectible. This is one of very few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. Please note: The remaining copies from the publisher command $150. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A scarce signed copy thus. 11 plates, 1 original Polaroid print. One of the most brilliant American photographers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ONE PICTURE BOOK TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). Bookseller Inventory # 19320
