Title: Palembang, Sumatra, Indonesia RPPC (Real ...
Publisher: M. A. Jamato & Co. (1914), Palembang
Publication Date: 1914
Book Condition: Very Good
A nice group of early 20th century photographs of the capital city of South Sumatra province. Each of the cards is annotated on the back (verso), identifying and commenting on the scene. One of them refers to the Palembang as the last leg of the writer's 1914 journey, so it seems reasonable to date the cards from that. The views are (titled from the notes on the back): Government buildings with Indonesians doing laundry in foreground; government port and telegraph office; a native house; river scene with sampans; a rikshaw; a market street scene; native riverboat traffic; and a dock scene. Slight curl to cards, a bit of edgewear; government building card with a few small areas of surface loss. An uncommon group of postcards. Bookseller Inventory # 103329
