Publication Date: 1895

24mo. Original paper wrappers with title printed in red on spine and on front cover. With 4 old popular woodcuts by Steinlen. (2), 64 pp. Very charming only edition of this miniature version (37 x 28 mm) of the well-known fable 'Le Petit Poucet', illustrated with 4 woodcuts by the famous Steinlen. It was printed by Pairault & Cie, who entered the field of miniature books at the end of the 19th century by publishing several very beautiful tiny books like this one. They printed two series of children's books, and this one belonged to the second series, which was the best produced of the two, also containing more interesting illustrations. The volumes were issued in different degrees of luxuriousness; in a 'papier velin' binding at 1,50 francs like this book, in a morocco binding and in a Japanese vellum binding. Very good uncut copy.
